Dead Horse Proposed Harvest Unit Forest Road Evaluation
Location: Clallam County, Washington | Owner: Merrill & Ring

ICE completed an evaluation of a forest road failure located within the Dead Horse Proposed Harvest Unit (PHU). The forest road failure occurred within Section 17, Township 30 North, Range 9 West, Willamette Meridian, near Lake Crescent in the Boundary Creek Watershed in Clallam County, Washington. The Dead Horse PHU was being harvested under an approved Forest Practices Application, although general operations of the approved FPA were limited because of a forest road failure and the in-progress development of a plan to mitigate the forest road failure area.
The forest road failure occurred along a new forest road that parallels the RMZ (Riparian Management Zone) of Boundary Creek (Type F water – fish habitat). Boundary Creek flows to the Lyre River, a Shoreline of the State that eventually flows into Lake Crescent.
Monroe Correctional Complex, Sewer and Storm Water Improvements
Location: Monroe, Washington | Owner: Washington State DOC

ICE provided geotechnical engineering services for proposed sewer and storm water system improvements at the Washington State Department of Corrections’ Monroe Correctional Complex in Monroe.
ICE developed recommendations for dewatering and shoring requirements; excavation and trench side slopes; backfill materials; placement and compaction of bedding and backfill materials; design values for foundation support, uplift, friction, lateral soil pressures and estimated post-construction settlement performance of manhole structures; support of the utility lines (including criteria for over-excavation); roadway subgrade preparation; foundation support (including allowable bearing values and settlement estimates for spread footings); support of on-grade floor slabs; lateral soil pressures acting on pump station walls; and lateral resistance (including passive earth pressures and coefficient of friction against sliding).
Suncadia, On-Call Geotechnical Services During Construction
Location: Near Roslyn, Washington | Owner: New Suncadia LLC

ICE has had up to four staff geologists and engineers on-site during the construction seasons between 2004 and the present providing construction observation services and compaction testing of soils for utility backfill, road subgrade preparation, monitoring of mass grading associated with the Bullfrog Pit restoration project and infiltration testing. In addition, we also provided environmental assessment and remediation related to petroleum-contaminated soil at several locations within the Suncadia project site
